Thibodeaux named to SEC Community Service Team

FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas senior Kristen Thibodeaux was named to the 2007 Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Community Service Team, the conference office announced. The freestyle and butterfly specialist for the Lady Razorbacks swimming and diving team was selected for giving back to the community in superior service efforts. “I’m so proud of Kristen and I congratulate her on receiving this great honor,” said head coach Jeff Poppell. “She is a giver and receives great satisfaction in helping others. She represents a wonderful example for others to follow.” Thibodeaux works with the Champions of Character, athletes who perform skits at junior highs to encourage positive character qualities and serve as role models, and volunteered with the Conference of Champions, which leads small group activities for high school athletes at annual weekend retreats. The Spring, Texas, native participated in the Razorbacks for Christmas and Lady’Backs for Christmas in which athletes encourage and provide toys for underprivileged children. Thibodeaux tutored academically challenged 2nd grade children at Jefferson Elementary School and is a member of the Sweat Hogs, Lady’Backs promoting physical fitness in regional elementary schools. Thibodeaux also volunteers with the Boys and Girls Club, AAO and Razorbacks for Kids. In 2005 Thibodeaux received a similar award for her outstanding community service as a member of the SEC Swimming and Diving Good Works team.
