BRYAN, Texas – The third round of the 2011 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship is underway and the No. 11 University of Arkansas is off the tee boxes with an early start this morning.
The Razorbacks teed off at 9:06 a.m. with sophomore Victoria Vela leading the charge. Redshirt freshman Emma Lavy was second followed by senior Corinna Rees, freshman Emily Tubert and senior Kelli Shean.
Arkansas began the day in the 14th spot in the field of 24 teams but the Razorbacks were just three strokes out of eighth place. Head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor thinks today is the day Arkansas can make a move against the field.
Conditions today are again interesting. Arkansas seems to find the windy half of the day to play and Friday is no exception. Winds were blowing 20-25 miles per hour with gusts up to 35 at times. The temperature is hovering around 85 degrees with 70 percent humidity. Rain is expected later today but hopefully Arkansas will get their round in before it hits.
