FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas men’s tennis team closed day two of the Louisville Fall Invitational with four victories.
Junior Pete Thomason defeated Morehead State’s Hugo Almonte 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the finals of Flight C where he will play West Alabama’s Honorio Fernandez Sunday afternoon.
"Pete has had a great tournament," assistant coach Eduardo Rincon said. "He will be playing in the finals of Flight C tomorrow. So, hopefully he can bring home a victory in his second tournament as a Razorback."
Junior Mike Nott collected his second win of the tournament with a victory over Youngtown State’s Silvlu Mistreanu 6-2, 6-4.
In doubles play Freshman Santiago Munoz and Thomason defeated a Youngstown State duo of Mistreanu and Ismail 8-4. Munoz and Thomason will take on Louisville’s Derognat and Brown in the semifinals of flight B doubles Sunday morning.
"We had a solid day today," Coach Rincon said. "We started very well, but didn’t finish as strong as we would have hoped, but overall we played some quality tennis."
The Razorbacks will return the court on Sunday at 8 a.m. for the second day of the Louisville Fall Invitational. A full recap from action will be posted on ArkansasRazorbacks.com following each day’s play.
