Three Hogs on SEC Winter Honor Roll

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. –- Three Arkansas men’s basketball student-athletes have been named to the Southeastern Conference’s winter academic honor roll, the league announced on Friday.

Juniors Stephen Cox and John Paul Noland are on the list along with redshirt freshman Michael Sanchez.

To make the honor roll, student-athletes must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better for their career or for the previous academic year, must have completed 24 semester hours and been a member of the team for an entire season.

Cox has a 3.26 GPA in agricultural business, Noland a 3.13 in biology and Sanchez a 3.02 in business.

Sanchez played in all 30 games for the Razorbacks with 28 starts. He averaged 5.9 points and was third on the team with 4.9 rebounds. The 6-8 forward shot 44.8 percent from the field (56-125) and 72.2 percent at the line (65-90). He led the team in rebounding four times, and was in double figures in scoring six times and in rebounding four times.

Cox saw action in 18 games and was a first-half defensive replacement several times.

Noland joined the team this year and appeared in five contests.

Cox and Sanchez were also named to Arkansas’ Razorback Honor Roll for the fall semester after recording a GPA between 3.0 and 3.49. Freshmen Rotnei Clarke and Nick Mason also made UA’s fall honor roll.
