Three Razorbacks named All-Tournament team

FAYETTEVILLE – Senior Ben Tschepikow and freshmen Bo Bigham and Zack Cox were all named to the Southeastern Conference’s All-Tournament Team it was announced following the SEC Championship game Sunday afternoon.

The trio of Razorbacks was key in Arkansas’ 2-2 record in the tournament including a pair of wins over No. 9 Florida and an extra innings loss to No. 21 Georgia. The Razorbacks were three of five infielders named to the SEC All-Tournament team. Bigham was the lone second baseman on the squad while Cox took the third-base honor. Tschepikow shared shortstop honors with Austin Nola of LSU.

Tschepikow was only able to play two games for the Hogs after he suffered a dislocated left pinkie finger in the Georgia game, but in those two contests hit .429 with a run scored and played flawless defense despite moving to the shortstop position for the first time in his career. Tschepikow made the move to shortstop to fill the void left by fellow senior Scott Lyons who was hurt in the final series of the regular season.

Bigham snared the second base position on the team thanks to his .400 average, team leading six hits and three runs scored. Over the course of Arkansas’ four games, Bigham seemed to constantly be on base, stole two bases and was a spark in the Razorback order.

Cox rounded out the Razorback All-Tournament Team players thanks to a pair of sensational plays defensively and a tape measure home run that will be talked about for years. Cox hit .357 for the tournament and on the mound pitched two scoreless innings, earning his first career save. Cox had five hits, three for extra bases, scored four runs and drove in four. His home run against Florida on Friday morning cleared the right-center field wall and hit the top of the 90-foot tall Region’s Park scoreboard.

The Razorbacks now wait for the NCAA Baseball Selection show scheduled to air at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 25, to see where their season continues. For more information regarding Razorback baseball or University of Arkansas athletics please visit ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
