Tigu advances at All-American

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas junior Anouk Tigu won her first-round match Tuesday afternoon in the qualifying draw at the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships hosted by the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

Tigu defeated Alabama’s Courtney McLane 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 and will face SMU’s Marta Lesniak in her second-round match.

"This was a really high quality match between two great competitors," Razorback coach Michael Hegarty said. "Getting a win in the first round is a good step forward for Anouk."

Today’s meeting was the second between Tigu and McLane. In the pairs’ first meeting last season, McLane upset Tigu, then-ranked No. 92, 6-2, 6-1.
