Top 10 Prospect Headed To The Hill

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The state of Arkansas’ consensus No. 1 prep football player is staying home. Head coach Bret Bielema announced Thursday that McTelvin Agim (@So_Splash) has signed a financial aid agreement to play football for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

A defensive lineman from Hope, Arkansas, Agim is considered the state’s top prospect by every major recruiting source. He is ranked the No. 9 overall player and a five-star prospect by ESPN.com, making him the highest-rated player Arkansas has ever signed.

“McTelvin has been a guy that we’ve heavily recruited over the last three years,” Bielema said. “It’s very rewarding not only for him but also for us. We’re happy to have him on our campus now, practicing with us before the bowl game, and we look forward to him joining us in January. It shows the caliber of student-athletes we can bring to the University of Arkansas.”

At 6-foot-3, 268 pounds, Agim is a force to be reckoned with up front. He earned Arkansas’ Gatorade Player of the Year honors this season and is incredibly versatile and athletic. At Hope High School, Agim not only starred on the defensive line but also lined up at wide receiver, running back and as a wildcat quarterback. He even returned kickoffs for the Bobcats.

As a senior, Agim totaled 72.5 tackles, 26 tackles for loss and 14 sacks. He also rushed for nine touchdowns and averaged 50.0 yards on seven kickoff returns. He earned all-state honors as both a junior and a senior and has been selected to play in the 2016 Under Armour All-American Game.

Over the summer, Agim participated in The Opening at Nike Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, which is considered the most prestigious event for high school football prospects.

The Razorbacks will play in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl on Jan. 2, 2016 in Memphis, Tennessee against the Kansas State Wildcats. The game will kick off at 2:20 p.m. and be nationally televised on ESPN.
