Top 25 showdown tonight at Walton

FAYETTEVILLE — The Arkansas Lady Razorbacks begin Southeastern Conference action tonight at 7 p.m. with the LSU Lady Tigers.

Tipoff is 7 p.m. at Walton Arena, and tickets are available at the door for the top 20 showdown.

Arkansas, 15-0, enters the game ranked 20th in the most recent Associated Press poll while LSU, 11-3, is just outside the top 10 at No. 11.

The Lady Tigers feature the 6-6 standout Sylvia Fowles, who have led LSU to six straight wins over Arkansas and three Final Four appearances during her career. Fowles underwent knee surgery in December, but has since returned to the lineup for LSU.

LSU also has the reigning SEC Player of the Week in Quianna Chaney.

Arkansas counters with last week’s SEC Player of the Week in Lauren Ervin. The 6-3 senior leads the SEC in rebounding. The game also pits a pair of SEC "rookie" coaches with Van Chancellor and Tom Collen, both in their first seasons at their respective schools. Chancellor returns to the SEC after leading the Houston Comets to four WNBA titles in the past 10 years. Chancellor was the longtime coach of Ole Miss before joining the pro ranks. Tom Collen was an assistant coach for Arkansas in the mid-1990s before taking head coaching jobs at Colorado State and Louisville.
