Top Hogs fall in ITA All-American

LOS ANGELES — After a very successful day one at the ITA Riviera All-American Tournament, senior Anouk Tigu and sophomore Claudine Paulson came up just short on day two in singles and doubles and return home with a 2-2 record against some of the best competition in the nation.

The 18th-ranked Tigu, who won her first round matchup in straight sets, was defeated in the second round in straight sets by the No. 10 singles player, Nina Secerbegovic of Baylor, 7-6(6), 6-3. This is Tigu’s first loss of the fall, as she is now 4-1 this season.

“This was a really encouraging performance by Anouk (Tigu) and Claudine (Paulson) at the All-American,” said head coach Michael Hegarty. “Anouk had a set point in the first set today, but hats off to the Baylor player for scraping out the win. This match will lead to good things for Anouk, no question.”

Doubles play did not go much better for the Hogs as the team of Valeria Pulido and Alison Ramos from Southern California made easy work of Tigu and Paulson, winning 8-1 and forcing the Razorbacks home. The loss puts the team of Tigu and Paulson at 3-2 in doubles this fall.
