Totten breaks another Filipino record

ROME, Italy. — University of Arkansas junior Erica Totten broke her third Filipino record of the 13th FINA World Championships in Rome, Italy Friday, placing 34th in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 8:53.34. The time is also a personal best time, smashing Totten’s previous personal best by six seconds.Earlier this week Totten set Filipino records in the 200-meter free and 200 fly. She also swam in the 400-meter free event.

Totten’s race on Thursday was the last of the events for the Razorbacks at the World Championships. Seniors Yi-Ting Siow (Malaysia) and Lynette Ng (Singapore) also competed in this week’s meet, which draws to a close on Sunday Aug. 2.
