Track Capital #NewHogs Summer Series: Tori Weeks

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Known for their gifted group of pole vaulters, the University of Arkansas women secured another top talent in 2015 signee Tori Weeks. The current pole vault high school indoor national record-holder Weeks has always been interested in pursuing post-secondary education at Arkansas.

“I had always wanted to go to the University of Arkansas but never really thought about competing in college athletics until I started pole vaulting,” Weeks said.

Although the Cabot native is nationally recognized for her abilities in the vault, she boasts a wide range of abilities from the track to the field. At the outdoor 2015 Arkansas 7A State Meet Weeks captured two titles picking up gold in the 300-meter hurdles and the triple jump as well as posting two runner-up finishes in the long jump and pole vault.

While successful at multiple events her passion lies in pole vaulting. Clearing heights in the high 13s for the majority of her senior outdoor season, Weeks finally broke through the barrier in early June at the Great Southwest Classic.

“I hadn’t jumped 14 feet since my first indoor meet so it was really exciting,” said Weeks. “I jumped 4.29m/14-1 which earned me the meet record and the girls field event most outstanding performer.”

Weeks followed up her exceptional performance at the Great Southwest Classic with a record-breaking clearance at the Arkansas Vault Club School’s Out Open vaulting 4.36m/14-4 to become the aforementioned national high school indoor record holder and US leader.

Ranked number one in the indoor vault and number two for outdoor, Weeks capped her senior season as the 2015 New Balance Outdoor national champion.
