Track Hogs earn 13 All-SEC honors

FAYETTEVILLE – The Arkansas Razorback men’s and women’s track and field teams earned 13 first, second and freshman All-Southeastern Conference honors, it was announced on Monday.

On the women’s side, freshman Regina George, sophomore Whitney Jones, senior Karen Thomas and junior Shelise Williams were named first-team All-SEC for their win in the 4×400-meter relay. Sophomore Tina Sutej also garnered first-team All-SEC honors for her victory in the pole vault.

Senior Janice Keppler earned second-team All-SEC honors with her runner-up finish in the pole vault. Stephanie Brown was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team for her fifth-place finish in the 800 meters.

On the men’s side, senior Alain Bailey was named first-team All-SEC with his win in the long jump. Freshman Brede Raa Ellingsen earned second-team All-SEC honors with his runner-up finish in the high jump.

Freshmen Eric Fernandez (third, 5,000 meters), Solomon Haile (fourth, 10,000 meters), Hunter Bourke (sixth, 400-meter hurdles) and Mitt Kirbos (11th, decathlon) were all named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.

The Razorbacks will compete next at the NCAA West preliminary rounds, May 27-29, in Austin, Texas.
