Trio of Razorbacks Challenge the Top Hurdlers in the Nation

EUGENE, Ore. – A trio of Arkansas student-athletes challenged the top hurdlers in the country on day two of the USATF Outdoor Championships. Crossett, Arkansas native Kelsey Herman was the first competitor of the day for the Razorbacks in the junior section of the 100-meter hurdles.

The 2013 Arkansas Democratic Gazette Female High School Athlete of the Year, Herman put forth a spirited effort finishing in sixth out of a blazing heat two that featured the top performer of the event.

Taliyah Brooks and Alex Gochenour represented the Razorbacks in the 100-meter hurdle senior section. The Arkansas duo battled the elements as well as the competition with temperatures as high as 100 degrees for most of the day’s events. The pair finished in sixth and seventh place out of heat three respectively.

Gochenour returns to action tomorrow in the heptathlon. A recipient of All-America honors for her performance at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships, the Arkansas junior looks to improve on her career best of 6,027 points. She will start her day returning to the 100-meter hurdles at 1:00 p.m.

Top USA junior pole vaulter Desiree Freier hits the runway tomorrow with hopes of punching her ticket to Edmonton, Canada to compete at the 2015 Pan Am Junior Championships. Selected for both the indoor and outdoor SEC All-Freshman team, Freier capped her first year as a Razorback finishing in fifth place at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Sydney Brown is set to close out day three for Arkansas in the 3,000 meter run at 7:46 p.m. Brown enters the competition with the eighth best time in the field.
