Trio of Hogs named to All-Tourney Team

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas softball players Sandra Smith and Hope McLemore were named to the North Texas/Sleep Inn Classic All-Tournament Team, while senior outfielder Jessica Bachkora was honored as the MVP of the tournament. The Razorbacks (5-4) dropped the first game of the tournament to North Texas 2-10, before going on a three-game win streak with victories over Sam Houston State, 12-1; Missouri State, 6-5; and Buffalo, 6-0.Bachkora was 6-16 (.375) in four games over the weekend with four home runs, seven RBIs, five runs scored, 17 total bases, a walk and a stolen base. She accounted for 12 of the 26 Razorback runs on the weekend. She was also 7-7 in the field to preserve her 1.000 season fielding percentage. On the season, Bachkora is hitting .438 (14-32) with five home runs, eight RBIs and 11 runs scored.McLemore played in three of Arkansas’ four games over the weekend, winning two and saving another. Friday against Sam Houston State she pitched six innings, allowed four hits and one run, while striking out eight. She came back to throw a complete game shutout against Buffalo on Saturday, allowing two hits and five total base runners. She also recorded a save, the second of her career, on Saturday against Missouri State by striking out the only batter she faced. On the weekend, she totaled 13.1 innings, allowed one earned run, struck out ten and posted an ERA of .053. She is 3-1 on the season with an ERA of 1.15.Smith collected three home runs and seven RBIs in a 6-for-15 (.400) performance at the plate.Arkansas returns to action Friday through Sunday at the NFCA Lead-Off Classic, in Columbus, Ga. The Razorbacks will take on Nebraska, Central Florida, Georgia Tech, Iowa and Illinois.
