FAYETTEVILLE — Junior defender Allie Tripp has been named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league has announced. This is the first conference honor of her career. “We are happy for Tripp and the whole team,” head coach Colby Hale said. “The service on the goals was fantastic and she plays a big role in organization. We had a good preseason, the girls came in fit and we know who we are. Kansas and SMU are very good teams but we felt good about our performances. We have a lot to work on, but for the season being 3 weeks young, I think we have a good foundation. We will continue to work. That’s who we are.” Her assist on Ashleigh Ellenwood’s golden goal off in the 101st minute lifted the Razorbacks over SMU in double overtime. She finished the game with two assists after setting up Jeriann Okoro for Arkansas’ first goal of the contest. Tripp collected two assists in the SMU match which were also good for two points for the match. This matched her career high in both categories after recording two assists and points during the Kentucky match in 2012. Tripp and the Razorbacks return to action on Friday Aug. 30, to play host to St. Louis. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. (CT) kickoff at Razorback Field.
