Barrington, R.I. — University of Arkansas women’s golfers Emily Tubert and Emily Podzielinski both missed the projected cut despite solid play in the first two rounds of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at Rhode Island Country Club in Barrington, R.I., Tuesday. Tubert will likely finish tied for 69th overall with a 150 (79-71) missing the cut by a stroke. Podzielinski was seven back of the cut. A Razorback sophomore-to-be Tubert struggled a bit with an opening round 79 on the par-71 course but rallied Tuesday playing even par golf. Tubert’s second round opened with back-to-back birdies and she made the turn event. She birded 12, bogeyed 17 for the second time in as many days but finished strong with the birdie to close with a 71. Tubert was plus-eight for the tournament with five birdies, all in the second round. Podzielinski, a sophomore transfer who sat out last season with the Razorbacks, finished the day tied for 119th place with a second round 79 for 156 (77-79). Podzielinski was two-over at the turn but struggled on the tough back nine. Podzielinski missed the cut but her two rounds featured two birdies and 22 pars for the event.
