Two Razorbacks Earn ITA Scholar-Athlete Status

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — In an announcement last week, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association stated that Johan den Toom and Santiago Munoz both earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status during the 2015-16 season.

In order to qualify as an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a player must be a varsity letter winner, hold a 3.50 GPA for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.

Munoz, a financial management and investments major with an overall 3.737 GPA, was also named a Southeastern Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year nominee and a CoSIDA Academic All-America nominee last season.

A finance major, den Toom holds a cumulative GPA of 3.667 after posting a 3.625 mark in the 2015-16 year. He is one of five seniors returning to a Razorback team that reached the 20-win plateau for the first time since 1986, a feat accomplished for only the third time in program history.

Munoz and den Toom both helped the Razorbacks finish the 2016 season with a 20-9 overall record, including a 7-5 mark in SEC play. Razorback Men’s Tennis returns for their 33rd season this fall.
