Two Razorbacks Improve Times At Last Chance

ATHENS, Ga. — A week removed from the SEC Swimming and Diving Championships, four Arkansas swimmers competed at the NCAA Last Chance meet Saturday in Athens, Georgia.

In a time trial, juniors Jessie Garrison and Chelsea Tatlow both dropped time, recording personal bests in the 200 butterfly Saturday night. Both swimming ‘B’ cuts, Tatlow clocked the fastest time by an Arkansas swimmer this season in the event at 1:57.43, while Garrison touched in 1:57.44, the second fastest time on the team.

“I am happy for Chelsea and Jessie to go personal bests again, just a week after previous personal bests last week at the SEC Championships,” head coach Neil Harper said. “It’s very difficult to repeat performances a week after SECs but they are finding ways to perform even better.”

Junior Olivia Weekley swam to a fifth place finish (53.55) in the 100 fly in the morning prelims, qualifying for the A final, where she touched fourth in 53.51. Though not her personal best, Weekley clocked ‘B’ cuts in both swims, bringing her total to six in the event this season. She also owns the top-six times on the team.

Sophomore Madison Strathman competed in the 100 breaststroke, touching in 1:02.64 in the prelims. Her 10th place finish advanced her to the B final where she clocked a 1:02.70.

Prelims will begin Sunday morning at  9 a.m. CT from the Gabrielsen Natatorium and finals will follow at 3 p.m. CT. Live results can be viewed here.
