FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Senior John Deaton and sophomore Magnus Kullenberg will travel to New Orleans, La. in the Tulane Bill Watson Ford Invitational Friday through Saturday.
“This is a good, solid tournament for both Magnus and John to get a breakthrough win,” head coach Robert Cox said. “There will be some very highly ranked players there. John and Magnus will be a dark horse but this will give them an opportunity for a big win.”
On Friday, each of the Razorbacks will play one singles match and one doubles match. Then Saturday, the Hogs will play in two singles matches and a doubles match. The finals of the event will be held Sunday.
“They played doubles at the Arlington tournament last weekend,” Cox said. “They showed a lot and should be a very good doubles team.”
Kullenberg is 6-4 in singles and advanced to the semifinals of the Ball State Invitational.
Deaton is 1-7 in singles competition and looks to get back on track this weekend.
“I’m really looking for John to break out of his three-set loss slump,” Cox said. “He has lost four three-set matches in a row, and he needs a little confidence going into the Rolex Invitational next week.”
