U.S. Women's Open Postponed for Thursday

FAYETTEVILLE — Former University of Arkansas golfer Amanda McCurdy’s second appearance at the U.S. Women’s Open will have to wait another day as fog has cancelled Thursday’s rounds. The entire East Coast has been drenched in heavy rains and the fog moved into Newport, R.I., late yesterday. U.S. Women’s Open officials first postponed play three hours then pushed the first tee time to 1:30 p.m. Eastern before calling play for the day. The official announcement came at 1:45 p.m. Central. Play will begin Friday at 6:00 a.m. Central followed by the second round on Saturday. After the cut, the final two rounds of 36 holes will take place Sunday with players going off on both the first and 10th tee. McCurdy, playing in her second U.S. Open, has an afternoon start time and is paired with Rosie Jones of Atlanta, Ga., and Jennifer Rosales of the Philippines.
