UA Summary Disposition to be Reviewed By NCAA
BY ANDRES FOCIL
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – A full review by the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions of the summary disposition report submitted by the University of Arkansas on July 18, 2002, is anticipated to be complete by October.
The NCAA Committee on Infractions conducted a preliminary review of the report in its August meeting. The Committee on Infractions is expected to complete its review of the report during its next scheduled meeting Oct. 11-13, 2002.
Prior to the October meeting, the committee plans to submit a limited number of questions seeking clarification on information contained in the report. In turn, the UA and the NCAA Enforcement staff will submit joint responses to the committee.
After fully reviewing the report and any additional information provided by the UA and the NCAA Enforcement staff, the committee will determine whether to accept the findings of fact presented in the report as well as review the UA’s self-imposed penalties.
If the Committee on Infractions accepts the findings of fact and the self-imposed penalties presented in the summary disposition report, then the UA anticipates that the committee could release a formal report concluding this matter by late November.
With the ongoing review of the summary disposition, UA officials will have no further comment until a full review has been completed.
