FAYETTEVILLE — The third-ranked Arkansas baseball team wraps up its second 10-game homestand of the 2012 season on Tuesday and Wednesday as the Razorbacks host Nevada in a two-game series. First pitch for both games is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Both games of the midweek series will be available on RazorVision through ArkansasRazorbacks.com and on the Razorback Baseball Radio Network from IMG. Three-time Arkansas Sportscaster of the Year Chuck Barrett (play-by-play) and former Arkansas Sports Information Director Rick Schaeffer (analyst) will call the action. Reserved tickets are on sale for both games of the midweek series. Arkansas is currently on a season-best, nine-game winning streak and brings a 19-2 overall record into the midweek series against Nevada. The Razorbacks opened Southeastern Conference play last weekend by sweeping a three-game series from Alabama. Jacob Morris hit .375 in the series with two RBI and two runs scored, while Matt Reynolds batted .364 with four runs scored and two RBI. Matt Vinson reached base nine times in the series with three hits and six walks and also made an unbelievable catch in the series opener that earned national recognition as the No. 1 play on SportsCenter’s top 10 plays on Saturday night and Sunday morning. Reynolds is leading Arkansas at the plate this season, hitting a team-leading .382 with three home runs and 16 RBI. Dominic Ficociello is batting .348 with a pair of homers and 14 RBI, while Tim Carver is hitting .329 with 11 RBI and 10 stolen bases. Sam Bates has hit a team-best five home runs and 17 RBI, while also hitting .302. Arkansas is scheduled to start a pair of freshmen on the mound in the two-game midweek series. In the opener on Tuesday, the Razorbacks will start freshman lefty Mark Reyes. Reyes has pitched in four games in relief and has a 1-0 record with a 10.38 ERA. In the series wrap-up on Wednesday, freshman right hander Chris Oliver will make the start. Oliver has pitched in five games, with one start, this season and is 0-0 with a 1.00 ERA. Out of the bullpen, Barrett Astin and Colby Suggs are tied for the team lead with 10 appearances. Astin leads the Razorbacks with six saves and is 2-0 on the year with a 0.00 ERA. Astin has not allowed a run in 20 innings of work. Suggs has a 1-0 record with a 2.08 ERA in his 10 outings. Cade Lynch has pitched in nine games and has compiled a 0-0 record with a save and a 1.37 ERA. Brandon Moore has made eight outings, six in relief, and has a 2-0 record with two saves and a 0.87 ERA. Nevada enters the series with a 10-8 record, including a 5-3 mark on the road. The Wolf Pack dropped two of three games against UC Irvine last weekend, winning the series opener and losing the final two games of the series. As a team, Nevada is hitting .300, while the pitching staff has a 3.88 team ERA. Brett Jones leads Nevada at the plate with a .375 batting average with 10 RBI. Joe Kohan is hitting .355 this season with a homer and seven RBI, while Austin Byler is batting .345 with a team-high tying three homers and nine RBI. Jay Anderson is also hitting over .300 as he is hitting .308 with 12 RBI. Nevada has not announced its rotation for the two-game midweek series. Out of the Wolf Pack bullpen, Timothy Culligan and Matt Gardner are tied for the team lead with eight appearances. Culligan has a 1-0 record with a 1.76 ERA, while Gardner has a team-leading five saves and is 0-1 with a 1.93 ERA. Tuesday and Wednesday’s games will mark the first meetings between Arkansas and Nevada.
