FAYETTEVILLE – The 14th-ranked University of Arkansas football team conducted practice on Thursday inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in preparation of Saturday’s game against No. 3 Alabama.
Head coach Bobby Petrino said he thinks the team is ready for its first conference game of the season and that he was pleased with the team’s preparation this week.
“We still have to get ready mentally and emotionally,” Coach Petrino said. “We’ve had good practices and good meeting times. Our players really understand what we want them to do. It’s about going out and being able to focus, concentrate and keep our composure for four quarters.”
Coach Petrino went on to say that the team has responded well all week to the magnitude of opening conference play at Alabama.
“It energizes everybody,” Coach Petrino said. “From Sunday when we broke down all the film and had all the planning, there’s a different sense of urgency and excitement and focus. You see guys getting to meetings a little earlier, happier and more focused.
Saturday’s game is set for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff inside Bryant-Denny Stadium and will be nationally televised by CBS.
