UA students admitted free to tonight's BK game

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas students will be offered free admittance to Arkansas’ home men’s basketball game against Alabama at Bud Walton Arena on Thursday night. In addition to regular student basketball ticket holders, a limited number of passes will be issued to other University of Arkansas students for entrance into the game.

Those students not already possessing tickets for the game may pick up a complimentary voucher, beginning at 5 p.m., from the ticket will call booth located at the south entrance of Bud Walton Arena. Students may pick up a voucher, while supplies last, by showing their University of Arkansas student ID card.

"We want our students that remain on campus or will stay in the area this weekend to join us for our men’s basketball game against Alabama," Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. "Our students are a big part of the atmosphere at Bud Walton Arena and I know Coach (John) Pelphrey and his team wouldwelcomehavinga large and vocal student contingent in the stands for this important Southeastern Conference game. We appreciate our students and hope that this will provide a respite from what has been a challenging week due to the severe weather in our area."

A major ice storm blanketed Northwest Arkansas late Monday night downing a large number of trees resulting in a widespread loss of electricity. After cancelling classes on both Tuesday and Wednesday, the University of Arkansas announced on Thursday morning that the university would remain closed for the remainder of the week with classes resuming on Monday, Feb. 2.
