FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas senior outfielder Jeff Hoefler has been selected to receive a Southeastern Conference post-graduate scholarship and is now a finalist for the 2001 H. Boyd McWhorter SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award.
Hoefler, a transfer from Tyler, Texas, Junior College and a native of Spring, Texas, will receive a $5,000 scholarship for graduate studies. An athlete from each SEC member institution receives a scholarship and is a candidate for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award, which will be selected by the SEC Faculty Athletics Representatives Boyd McWhorter Selection Committee.
The award, and the $10,000 post-graduate scholarship, will be presented in June at the SEC Spring Meetings in Destin, Fla.
Hoefler is fifth among the Razorback regulars with a .265 batting average. He’s first on the team with a .392 on-base percentage, third with 21 runs scored, first with 17 walks and sixth with 14 runs batted in. The accounting major has been perfect in the field with no errors in 33 chances.
