FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas sophomore basketball forward Joe Johnson announced on Thursday he is making himself available for the 2001 NBA Draft.
Johnson will not sign with an agent and has until June 20 to withdraw from the draft pool and return to Arkansas for his junior season. The NBA Draft is June 27. NCAA and NBA rules allow players to retain their college eligibility if they have not signed with an agent.
Johnson said he is entering his name to explore all of his options.
“At this time, I merely want to gather information prior to making a final decision,” Johnson said. “I have had a great experience so far at the University of Arkansas and simply feel that it is in my best interest to gather as much information as I can about my future.”
