FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas outside linebackers and strong safeties coach Chris Vaughn has been named recruiting coordinator it was announced by UA head football coach Houston Nutt on Wednesday.
“I’m grateful to Coach Nutt for this opportunity,” Vaughn said. “I believe the University of Arkansas has a lot to offer prospective student-athletes. I look forward to working with the rest of our staff to bring outstanding individuals from all over the country in to be a part of the Razorback program.”
Vaughn will continue to serve in his role as an assistant coach, but will take on the added responsibilities of organizing the Razorbacks’ recruiting efforts in Arkansas as well as across the nation.
“Chris has done a great job for us both on the field and on the road recruiting,” Nutt said. “He is young and energetic and the type of guy we need spearheading our recruiting program. It is a full load, but I’m positive that Chris will do an outstanding job in his new role.”
Vaughn is entering his fourth season on Nutt’s staff at Arkansas. After coaching outside linebackers in 2000, he added strong safeties to his duties in 2000.
Nutt also announced that assistant coaches Bobby Allen and Dave Wommack have exchanged position assignments on the defensive side of the ball.
Allen will take over coaching the Razorback secondary after handling the UA inside linebackers last season. Entering his sixth season with Nutt at Arkansas, Allen has also served as co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach during his tenure.
Wommack will coordinate the UA inside linebackers in addition to his role as defensive coordinator. Wommack tutored the Razorbacks’ defensive backs in his first two years at Arkansas.
