Volleyball Alumni match at Barnhill

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas volleyball team will continue its spring exhibition season Saturday with the Razorback Alumni match scheduled for 7 p.m. at Barnhill Arena. Admission to Saturday’s Alumni match is free.

The match marks the midway point of the Hogs’ spring schedule after spending the past two weekends in Houston. The Razorbacks played in the Texas Tornadoes College Spring Tournament to open the 2010 exhibition season before participating in the Rice Invitational last weekend. Arkansas’ 11-player spring roster includes 2009 All-American and Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year Jasmine Norton and newcomers Alex Fitzmorris and Adriana Vazquez.

Head coach Robert Pulliza and his team will welcome 10 former Razorback student-athletes to Barnhill Arena. The Alumni roster is set to feature Kim (Storey) Chronister (1995-98), Kelli Cole (2004-07), Jessica Dorrell (2004-07), Christina Lawrence (2004-08), Ashley Miller (2004-07), Jessica (Field) Phelan (1995-98), Kristin Seaton (2005-09), and Jenny (Rangelova) Kirk (2000-01). Destiny Clark (2005-08) and Anna (Velikanova) Vester (2000-02) will also be in attendance but will not play.

Field earned Arkansas’ first All-America honors when she was selected to the Second Team in 1997. Storey followed suit with an All-American season in 1998. Miller is the program’s all-time digs leader (2,126) and holds the No. 2 mark in SEC history. Dorrell continues her allegiance with the university as a staff member with the Razorback Foundation and Kirk currently serves as the volleyball team’s director of operations.

Saturday’s Alumni match is the first of two scheduled home dates on Arkansas’ spring slate. The Hogs will head to Overland Park, Kan., next weekend for the Blue Valley West Tournament to take face Creighton, Kansas State and Saint Louis. The Razorbacks will close their spring season with an April 24 home match against Missouri State.
