CHARLESTON, S.C. – The No. 7/9 University of Arkansas women’s golf team fired a four-under 284 and moved to the top of the leaderboard in the second round of the Powerade Cougar Classic in Charleston, S.C., Monday.
The Razorbacks hold a two-shot lead over round one leader No. 22 Wake Forest and No. 3 UCLA who moved up five spots on day two. Arkansas is in the clubhouse with a 567 that includes rounds of 283 and 284. The rest of the top five include No. 17 North Carolina State with 572 and No. 2 Duke with 574.
Junior Regina Plasencia continues to play well and leads the Razorbacks. Plasencia is sixth overall and in the clubhouse with a 139 that includes two sub-par rounds of 69-70. Sophomore Summar Roachell moved up the leaderboard Monday with a second round 70, two under par on the par 72, 6,204-yard Yeamans Hall Course. Roachell is tied for 14th overall with a 142.
Junior Gabriela Lopez and sophomore transfer Samantha Marks are tied for 17th overall. Both players posted 143 with Lopez shooting 70-73 and Marks shooting 72-71. Freshman Alana Uriell rounds out the Razorback scoring. Uriell is tied for 38th overall shooting 72-75=147.
The rest of the field includes No. 23 UCF with 576, No. 19 Mississippi State with 581, No. 59 Tennessee and No. 31 North Carolina tied for ninth with 587, No. 42 Wisconsin at 590, No. 69 College of Charleston with 593, No. 48 Georgia with 594, No. 21 Florida with 595, No. 169 Charleston Southern with 598, No. 14 Clemson with 600, No. 72 Ole Miss with 601, No. 114 Indiana with 602, No. 61 Penn State with 607, No. 75 Missouri and No. 40 Baylor tied for 20th with 608, No. 85 Maryland with 611 and No. 195 UNCG with 620.
