CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The second-ranked University of Arkansas women’s golf team was moving up the leaderboard when weather delay round two of the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C., Saturday.
Arkansas moved up two spots from a tie for 10th to a tie for eighth through about 15 holes of the second round. The second round will resume at 7 a.m. (central) and the final round will start immediately after.
Arkansas moved up and was four-over on the day before play was called. Sophomore transfer Samantha Marks continues to lead Arkansas. Marks was two-over through 12 holes before play was stopped.
Junior Gabriela Lopez was one-over through 12 and freshman Jordy LaBarbera was one-under through 15 holes. Sophomore Summar Roachell was plus-two through 15 and junior Regina Plasencia was plus-seven through 12 holes.
Top-ranked South Carolina was leading the field when play was called. The Gamecocks were five under on the day through 15 holes. Duke was a close second followed by Wake Forest, North Carolina State, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Oregon. The Razorbacks are currently tied for eighth with host North Carolina.
