AUSTIN, Texas – Lightening and torrential rains forced NCAA officials to postpone the first day of competition at the 2004 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Five inches of rain fell in the downtown Austin area within six hours. The 100-meter hurdles for the heptathlon and the preliminary heats of the women’s 4×100-meter relay were the only events that took place. A revised schedule will be available on www.ncaasports.com/outdoortrack/mens or www.texassports.com at midnight on Wednesday.
