Wednesday practice report

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Arkansas Razorback football team continued AutoZone Liberty Bowl practices at Memphis University School in Memphis, Tenn. on Wednesday. Head coach Bobby Petrino spoke with media after practice.

On Wednesday’s practice:

"It was good to get out there and see the type of speed we are going to have. Today, our receivers were doing their cuts at full speed. The timing was better with our quarterbacks and our receivers."

On the anticipation of Saturday’s game:

"I think we are still at the point where we know we have preparation to do. We did a good job in meetings last night and this morning. We weren’t as sharp at practice today as I would have liked to see but we did get a lot accomplished. We took a step forward in our preparation for the game. I think we will really see the focus that we want tomorrow in our Thursday practice."

On Arkansas’ defense:

"We know we have a big challenge. We need to do a good job of understanding our technique and fundamentals. We have to play with great emotion and great speed. We need to get all 11 guys to the ball and force turnovers. I think it will be important to get the offense some three-and-outs and some short fields."

On Ryan Mallett’s focus:

"It has been great. I don’t think you could ask anything more of him. He has been great in the meetings and very good at practice, not only on leading but understanding what we are going to go. I think he is very in to this and I expect him to have a good game."
