Weekend finale vs. LSU at Barnhill Arena
FAYETTEVILLE — Off a straight-set win Friday to open the weekend, the University of Arkansas volleyball team returns to its home floor Sunday afternoon to host LSU. First serve of the Western Division matchup is scheduled for 1 p.m. (CT) at Barnhill Arena. The match will also be broadcast live by Cox Sports Television (CST). The Razorbacks enter Sunday’s match with a 12-3 overall record and a 3-1 mark in Southeastern Conference play. Single-match tickets are $4, while fans 17 years and younger are admitted for free. University of Arkansas students attending volleyball matches this season are asked to use the street-level entrance on Stadium Drive to enter Barnhill Arena. Following the match, fans are invited to get autographs from the Razorbacks with Sunday’s giveaway being the 2012 team photo card. Arkansas and LSU will be meeting for the 39th time with the Razorbacks owning a 23-15 advantage in the all-time series. The two teams split last season’s matches with each winning on its home floor. Arkansas’ win in Fayetteville last year broke an 11-match skid to the Tigers. In their last outing, the Razorbacks registered a straight-set win over Auburn at Barnhill Arena. Roslandy Acosta had a match-high 10 kills and was one of six Arkansas players with at least five kills. While posting a .277 hitting percentage, the Razorbacks limited Auburn to a .118 efficiency figure behind 10.0 total team blocks. Liz Fortado and Janeliss Torres-Lopez each had six total blocks in the win. With Friday’s win against Auburn, the Razorbacks improved to 12-3 through their first 15 matches of the season, tying the 1997 team for the second-best record in program history in that season-opening stretch. The 1998 team was 13-2 through its first 15 matches. The Arkansas-LSU match will be broadcast live by Cox Sports Television (CST) with Jacob Haertl and Maria Taylor handling the commentary duties. Including this season’s schedule, five of the past eight Arkansas-LSU matches will have been played in front of a television audience. When the two teams play later this season in Baton Rouge, La., the match will be aired on ESPNU.
