Weeks Honored For Outstanding Vault

SEC Indoor Championship Info

NEW ORLEANS – Sophomore standout Lexi Weeks was named National Athlete of the Week, as announced Tuesday after proving her status as one of the world’s best pole vaulters at the Arkansas Qualifier. Weeks also picked up Southeastern Conference honors, named the Field-Athlete of the Week. She is the first Razorback to receive national recognition this season.

The Rio Olympian cleared an impressive 4.60m (15-1) and marked her fourth indoor clearance of 15 feet or better last Friday at the Randal Tyson Track Center. Weeks currently ranks as the 10th-best pole vaulter in the world and the only collegian with a 15-foot clearance in 2017.

A native of Cabot, Arkansas, Weeks heads into this weekend’s SEC Indoor Championship as the top pole vaulter in the conference, and hopes to add to her accolades by defending her title from 2016.
