Weems Townes Beverley Lead Razorbacks Past ULM

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) -Patrick Beverley, Sonny Weems and Darian Townes each scored 17 points and Arkansas pulled away in the second half for an 85-60 victory over Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday.

Jonas Brown led Louisiana-Monroe with 21 points. Tony Hooper added 12.

Both teams got off to quick starts in a fast-paced first half that saw Arkansas lead 46-38 at the break. Brown scored 15 of the Warhawks’ first 21 points.

It was a different story in the second half as Arkansas clamped down defensively, holding Louisiana-Monroe to just 22 points, including limiting Brown to four.

The Razorbacks (10-3) dominated inside against the smaller Warhawks (6-7).

Besides Townes, Arkansas got solid offensive production from Charles Thomas and Steven Hill, who combined for 20 points. Hill set the tone early, scoring seven first half points, and Townes added 13 points in the first half.

Weems and Thomas led Arkansas? second half surge. Weems scored 11 of his 17 points after halftime, while Thomas scored 10 of his 12, including 8-of-8 from the free-throw line.

Arkansas, coming off a 74-67 loss to Appalachian State, will return to action Jan. 5 in Dallas against former Southwest Conference foe Baylor in its final nonconference game of the season. The Razorbacks open Southeastern Conference play Jan. 10 at Auburn.
