Wilson, Wright earn SEC weekly honors

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson and wide receiver Jarius Wright were named SEC Co-Offensive Players of the Week, as announced on Monday by the league office. It marks the first time in league history that two players from the same team were named SEC Co-Offensive Players of the Week.

Wilson and Wright were both instrumental in No. 10 Arkansas’ 42-38 come-from-behind victory against then-No. 14 Texas A&M last Saturday inside Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Wilson set a new school record with 510 passing yards, breaking the previous Arkansas record of 409 passing yards set last season by Ryan Mallett against Vanderbilt. Wilson finished the game 30-for-51 with 510 yards and three touchdowns. The Greenwood, Ark., native also scored on a two-point conversion to tie the game at 35 in the fourth quarter. Wilson’s 510 yards passing was also the fifth-highest single-game total in SEC history. Wilson also set Arkansas’ single-game records for total yards by one player with 481 and total individual players with 57. His 30 completions were a career high and the second-highest single-game total in school history.

Wright re-wrote the UA single-game receiving record book in the win over Texas A&M. The Warren, Ark., native set a school record with 281 receiving yards and tied a school record with 13 receptions. His receiving yards total was also the second-highest in SEC history. Wright had a pair of touchdowns in the win, scoring on a 68-yard pass from Wilson in the first quarter and recovering a fumble in the end zone in the fourth quarter.

This is the first SEC Offensive Player of the Week honor for both Wilson and Wright and the third SEC weekly honor for Arkansas this season.

Arkansas is back in action on Saturday when it hosts No. 15 Auburn inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the game will be nationally televised on ESPN.
