Women?s track heads West to Irvine

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Razorback women’s track and field will make its outdoor debut this weekend at the UC Irvine Spring Break Classic. The meet will take place Friday-Saturday, March 20-21, at Irvine’s Anteater Stadium.

Friday’s schedule begins with the men’s and women’s hammer throw at 4:00 p.m. The evening session starts at 8:30 p.m. with the men’s and women’s 1,500 meters, 3,000 meters and 3,000-meter steeplechase. Field events on Saturday start at 10:30 a.m. with the javelin and long jump. The first event on the track is the women’s 4×100-meter relay at 3:00 p.m.

Joining the hosting Anteaters of UC Irvine in the field are teams from Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cornell University, UC Riverside, University of Michigan, University of St. Thomas (Minn.), University of Texas at San Antonio, Whittier College and Yale University.

Arkansas has a full schedule of entries this weekend including sprinters, middle distance events and both the 4×200-meter and 4×400-meter relays. Senior multi-eventer Etienne Chaplin will make her 2009 debut along with newcomer pole vaulter Janice Keppler.
