FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas women’s basketball team continuesits series of opponent previews as it counts down to tipoff of the 2013-14 season. Next up on the nonconference schedule for the Razorbacks is the Sam Houston State Bearkats.

Series Results: This season’s matchup between Arkansas and Sam Houston State will mark thefifth all-time meeting of the two programs.Arkansas is 4-0 all-time against Sam Houston State, as theRazorbacks claimed a 106-78 victory in the last meetingduring the 2009-10 season.
Last Season: Sam Houston State took home hardware duringthe 2012-13 season, as the Bearkats recorded an 18-15 overall record and claimed the Southland Conference championship with a 13-5 record in league play. The Bearkats were 8-11 in road play last season.
Foe to Know: Jasmine Johnson, 5-7 Guard, Senior. The Bearkats’ top returning scorer (7.7 ppg), Johnson started in 32games last season and logged the second-highest average ofminutes per game (32.4). Johnson also kept teammates involved last season, dishing out 110 assists.
Next ‘Kat Up: Sam Houston State will face the challenge of finding new team leadership this season, as the Bearkats saw their top three scorers from last season graduate inBritni Martin (15.9 ppg), Sequeena Thomas (14.2 ppg) and Chanice Smith (9.4 ppg). The trio started in all 33 games for Sam Houston State last season.
