Women's tennis preseason #19

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Razorback women’s tennis team broke into the national rankings again on Tuesday as the No. 19 team in the nation, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. They will be looking to build on the early ranking as they head in the 2010 season.“We’re excited to kick off the spring season with a top twenty ranking,” said head coach Michael Hegarty. “Our players competed well this fall and are anxious to begin the spring with so many great home matches.”Arkansas closed out the 2009 season in the No. 15 spot after advancing to the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season and the first time in program history.In the Hogs final match, a valiant effort came up short, 4-2, against No. 3 Duke, with the team able to capture the lone doubles point and one more singles point from the help of then-freshman Kate Lukomskaya.Arkansas will begin their spring season on Saturday, January 16, when they travel to Ft. Myers, Florida for the Florida Gulf Coast Invite.

The first home match will be on January 23, when the Hogs take on Oklahoma State and St. Louis at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively.
