Zguns falls at Icy Hot All-American

Chattanooga, Tenn. – No. 71 Adrians Zguns ran into talented No. 11 in the nation Romain Ambert of Mississippi State Friday in the round of 16 at the Icy Hot All-American Tournament.
“Ambert played very well, and Adrians got off to a slow start,” head coach Robert Cox said. “It rained today and a big wait for indoor play slowed action. He picked up four great wins and solidified himself as a top player in the nation.”
After starting two hours late due to rain, Zguns started slowly and never recovered. Ambert proved too strong as he won the match, 6-0, 6-1.
Zguns went 4-1 in play during the week with a three-set victory over No. 22 Mat Cloer of Florida State. For the fall Zguns now has a record of 8-2.
Arkansas next plays on Thursday Oct. 16, 2003, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the ITA Regional Tournament, where Arkansas will take on opponents in the central region in a tournament format.
Round of 16:
#11 Romain Ambert (MSU) def. #71 Adrians Zguns, 6-0,6-1
