Day 12 (Saturday, May 31): Sophomore MB Ana Sofia Jusino
This is the 12th feature in a series titled #13Days13Razorbacks in which one volleyball student-athlete per day will be highlighted during the team’s two-week European tour (May 20-June 1). Visit the #EuroHogs central page for continued coverage of Arkansas’ four-country stay which includes stops in Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and the Czech Republic. Today’s feature highlights sophomore Ana Sofia Jusino.
Q: What will be one of the main takeaways from this two-week trip to Europe?
Ana Sofia Jusino: I’ve always liked my teammates, obviously, and we all get along but the way we interacted with other teams was really special. There aren’t a lot of teams like ours which is cool.
Q: What’s the difference being here with your Arkansas teammates versus last summer with Puerto Rico for U20 World Championships?
Jusino: I’ve liked it much more this time because we’ve been able to do our own thing. (Robby) has given us a lot of freedom with that. I also got to see a lot more of the city. We were in Brno last year but this time we’ve spent two days in Prague. I feel like I’ve seen a lot more than I did with the other team.
Q: What are you going to miss most about Europe?
Jusino: Cappuccinos and a lot of great food. It’s just been so fun seeing new things.
Q: From your redshirt season to now, where do you think you’ve improved the most?
Jusino: Definitely, my offense. I think I’ve been pretty good at blocking since I got to Arkansas but definitely think I’ve been able to develop my offense more.
Q: How are you prepping for Sunday’s trip back to the United States?
Jusino: I’ll probably be packing an hour before we leave. I haven’t really thought about it too much but I’m going to shower and maybe take a nap but I’m not sure my teammates will let me. Usually I can sleep on planes but last time coming to Europe, I didn’t. I was just too uncomfortable.
