Day 8 (Tuesday, May 27): R-Freshman MB Blakelee Dunagin
This is the eighth feature in a series titled #13Days13Razorbacks in which one volleyball student-athlete per day will be highlighted during the team’s two-week European tour (May 20-June 1). Visit the #EuroHogs central page for continued coverage of Arkansas’ four-country stay which includes stops in Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and the Czech Republic. Today’s feature highlights redshirt freshman Blakelee Dunagin.
Q: Have you been able to process everything you’ve seen and done so far?
Blakelee Dunagin: Yes. Things are starting to run together a little bit but I literally took pictures of everything we’ve seen while we’re walking around. Now I can go back and go through the whole thing again when I want.
Q: Is this your first trip outside of the United States?
Dunagin: I’ve been to Jamaica when I was little so I can count that as being out of the country. I remember some things about that trip but I was little so I don’t remember the whole thing.
Q: What has been the highlight for you so far?
Dunagin: I’d definitely say going to (Brac) when we were in Split. It was so cool and the water was just so pretty and blue. I made that my new favorite color…Adriatic Sea blue. I didn’t really have a favorite color before but now I do.
Q: How badly did you want to get out there and play during your redshirt season?
Dunagin: It was definitely a struggle because you go through all the work (in practice) with everyone but don’t get to play. You just have to keep rolling and keep working.
Q: Where do you think your game has improved the most over the past year?
Dunagin: Confidence and talking on the court. I feel more comfortable out there on the court because of all the hard work.
Q: As a native of Rogers, Ark., what are the benefits of being from Northwest Arkansas and being a Razorback?
Dunagin: It’s good for me because if I need anything my mom can just run it up to me and if I do feel homesick, I can always go back home for the weekend which is another great thing.
