2004 Razorback Cross Country Schedule Finalize

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The 2004 Razorback Cross Country schedule has been finalized and the Hog harriers will be traveling to familiar venues, but the biggest highlight comes on Oct. 30 when they will host the Southeastern Conference Cross Country Championships for the first time since 1994. Fans will have the opportunity to see Arkansas head coach John McDonnell guide the Razorbacks to an unprecedented 31st-consecutive league cross country crown.
“We have a great schedule,” Arkansas head coach John McDonnell said. “We have a lot of big ideas to make the SEC Championships really special and we’ll be able to have the fans out there supporting us. It’s an advantage for us, because we’re going to have a young team, but we can be good if we stay healthy.”
Arkansas has captured 13-straight championships since it joined the SEC in 1991 and when it was a member of the Southwest Conference the Hogs took home 17-consecutive titles beginning in 1974.
Coach McDonnell and his Hogs will open the season on Sept. 3 with the four-mile Arkansas Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., at the Razorback Cross Country Course. They will then travel to Joplin, Mo., for the Missouri Southern Invitational (8K) on Oct. 18, and the popular Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree (8K) will follow on Oct. 2, in Stillwater, Okla. On Oct. 16 the Razorbacks will return home to compete in the Chile Pepper Invitational (10K) on the Razorback Cross Country Course and after a two-week break the SEC Championships (8K) will come to Fayetteville on Oct. 30.
Waco, Texas will once again serve as the site for the NCAA District VI Championships (10K) on Nov. 13. The NCAA Cross Country Championships (10K) will return to Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 22, with Arkansas looking for a chance to claim its 12th national title. Indiana State hosted the meet in 2002 and is slated hold the championship meet for the next two years.
