He capped his stellar high school career by leading his team to a 13-1 record and a state championship in the 6A classification in Oklahoma. For his efforts, Dial was recognized by The Tulsa World as an honorable mention selection at defensive back for both its all-state and all-metro squads. He was tabbed as a 6A-4 all-district defensive back and an OkPrepXtra all-state first-team linebacker. He spent time at defensive end, linebacker and safety during his prep career under Coach Allan Trimble. He finished the season with more than 100 tackles and an interception. As a junior, he broke his hand in a game against Springdale (Ark.) High School and played in all but three games with a cast. Scout.com ranked him as the No. 11 player in Oklahoma. The outlet also ranked him as the No. 43 strong side linebacker in the nation. Rivals.com named him as the No. 22 prospect in Oklahoma. He chose Arkansas over Colorado State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Tulsa. He is the son of Jim and Shawna Dial. His father Jim is the head track and field coach at Oral Roberts. His mother Shawna is an assistant track and field coach at ORU.
