2009 CWS team recognized

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The 2009 University of Arkansas baseball team was recognized during halftime of Saturday’s football game. The squad advanced to the College World Series last season, the Razorbacks’ sixth appearance in Omaha, and completed the season with a third-place national finish, tied for the second-best finish in program history.

Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long and Arkansas head coach Dave Van Horn were joined by members of the team during the on-field ceremony. A clip of Andrew Darr’s game-winning double against Florida State in the Super Regional round played on the video board as the players, coaches and support staff from the 2009 team lined up at midfield. A recap of Arkansas’ run through the postseason was read before each person on the field was recognized, individually.

Last season, the Razorbacks finished with a 41-24 overall record and a 14-15 mark in Southeastern Conference play. Arkansas advanced to the semifinals of the SEC Tournament, swept through the Norman Regional and defeated Florida State in the Super Regional round to reach the College World Series.The 2010 edition of the Diamond Hogs begin their season with a Feb. 19-21 series against Ball State at Baum Stadium.
