FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The 2014-15 University of Arkansas women’s basketball season is still a long ways off but it is never too early to start talkin’ hoops.
Each Monday, we are going to profile one of the teams who are expected to be on the Razorbacks’ schedule this year. First-year head coach Jimmy Dykes and his staff have worked hard to create a competitive non-conference schedule that will excited fans and prepare the Razorbacks for the always-grueling test that the Southeastern Conference will bring after the holidays.

Remember, this is not meant to be the complete schedule and that the teams mentioned in these stories are subject to change as are the suggested play dates. THE SEASON OFFICIALLY OPENS
Game two of the regular season in early November is tentatively scheduled for Savannah State.
The Razorbacks and Jimmy Dykes face the Tigers for the first time in program history.
So what do we know about the Tigers?
* Located in Savannah, Ga.
* Founded in 1890
* Enrollment is 4,582
* Colors are burnt orange and reflext blue
* They are an NCAA Division I member in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference
* The Tigers’ head coach is Cedric Baker in his 12th year
* The first year of the program was 1928
* All-Time Record is 456-625 (since 1974)
* They were 19-14 overall and 10-6 in the MEAC last year
* They graduated four seniors from a year ago
The Tigers return their second-leading scorer from a year ago in Jasmine Kirkland who averaged 9.7 points per game in all games and elevated that to 11.3 ppg against conference opponents. Last year was a record-setting one for Savannah State since moving to Divison I in 2002-03. The posted records for wins with 19, conference wins with 10 and home arena wins with a 10-2 mark.
