FAYETTEVILLE - University of Arkansas football head coach Bobby Petrino and Razorbacks Tyler Wilson and Brandon Mitchell addressed the media Monday in the Miller Room of the Broyles Athletic Center, wrapping up UA's 2011 session of spring football.
Coach Petrino, entering his fourth season leading the Razorbacks, stated what he and his staff addressed during this year's spring drills. The Razorback coaching staff entered spring football unchanged, marking it as the only team in the SEC and one of just two schools that played in a BCS game to have no staff changes following the 2010 season.
"When we went into spring football, we knew we were a different football team than the year before," Coach Petrino said. "What we were really trying to find out is who's going to be our leaders, what is our identity going to be and a lot about the depth chart and competition. I thought we got a lot accomplished."
Coach Petrino noted that the summer will provide more chances for the Razorbacks to prepare for the 2011 football season.
"This summer will be good, because they'll be out there themselves working on it, pushing each other," Coach Petrino said. "We'll find out a lot about who wants to be the leaders of the team. And then when we get to practice in August, I think it's going to be a lot of fun. I enjoy that. I enjoy pushing guys to get better."
The Razorbacks open their 2011 schedule in Fayetteville on Sept. 3, matching up against Missouri State.
