FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas softball team dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 15/17 Tulsa Wednesday night at Bogle Park. For a second-consecutive game, the Razorbacks staged a seventh-inning rally that fell just short. At the plate, Stephanie Canfield reached base three times including a pair of singles. Arkansas is now 24-18 on the season.

“I thought there were an awful lot of positives tonight despite the loss,” head coach Mike Larabee said. “It was great to get Kimmy Beasley back in the circle tonight, I thought she did outstanding in her innings. Sydney Wright did great to come in to the game in a relief effort. We will hopefully build on our positives tonight going into this weekend.”

Tulsa (36-4) struck first with three runs in the top of the third but the Razorbacks answered with a run of their own in the bottom half of the frame. With runners on the corners, Canfield dropped a one-out bloop single in front of the Golden Hurricane left fielder to score Jennifer Rambo from third.

Facing a three-run deficit after TU tacked on another run in the top of the seventh inning, the Razorbacks put together a scoring threat. With Rambo and Jayme Gee on second and third, respectively, Canfield reached base for third time in the game with a two-out walk to extend the game and load the bases. However, Tulsa starter Aimee Creger got the next hitter to pop out to end the game.

In her first start since Feb. 21, Beasley allowed three runs—two earned—and struck out three in three innings of work. Wright came on in relief and pitched three scoreless innings before allowing the final run of the game in the seventh.

Arkansas completes its week-long home stand April 11-13 with a Southeastern Conference series against South Carolina. Game one of the weekend set is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. (CT) at Bogle Park. Jennifer Rambo and Chloe Oprzedek will be recognized before games one and two, respectively, for their Senior Day ceremonies.
