FAYETTEVILLE – On the final day of competition at the 2014 USA Championships, University of Arkansas standout Jarrion Lawson had a day’s best mark of 8.13m/26-8.25 to finish second in the long jump. The Razorback sophomore fouled on his first two attempts before vaulting into second place in the third round with his wind-aided leap. Teammate Anthony May, competing in his third event of the weekend, finished 12th in the long jump.

Lawson’s jump represents his all-conditions outdoor best to go along with his lifetime best of 27-6.5 he tallied in March to win the NCAA indoor title. The Texarkana, Texas, native also captured the SEC outdoor title in the long jump in May.

May finished Sunday’s event final with a best jump of 7.57m/24-10 and ended the weekend with additional top-15 efforts in the high jump and triple jump. The Hoover, Ala., native established a personal best of 25-8.25 earlier this season at the SEC Outdoor Championships on his way to a third-place finish.

Arkansas’ action at the USA Championships began Thursday with Neil Braddy in the first round of the 400 meters. The senior sprinter finished 20th overall with a time of 46.85 in the first of four heats. The Ft. Smith, Ark., native was part of the Razorbacks’ All-American 4x400-meter relay teams during the indoor and outdoor seasons.
