Prior to Arkansas
As a senior at Marcus High School, Fortado helped lead the Marauders to the regional finals of the 2011 Texas State Tournament. She was ranked No. 75 in the 2012 Senior Aces class by PrepVolleyball.com and held spots on the Under Armour Player to Watch list and AVCA All-America Watch List. During her prep career, she was a three-time all-district performer, named to the All-State team and was the Offensive Player of the Year for Marcus in 2010. Fortado plays club for Texas Advantage, which also produced current Razorbacks Amanda Anderson, Jasmine Norton and Clarissa Pavey. During the summer before her freshman season at Arkansas, Fortado was named to the 18 Open Division All-Tournament Team at the 2012 USAV Girls' Junior National Championships. She was also named the MVP of the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star Game.

Personal
Born March 14, 1994, she is one of three children to Scott and Laura Fortado of Flower Mound, Texas. Liz has two brothers, Michael and Matthew, and plans to major in business while at Arkansas.
